Foyer Pendant Size: Start With the Walk-Under Clearance

Short answer: For a foyer pendant people walk beneath, start with at least seven feet from the finished floor to the fixture's lowest point. Then add the foyer's length and width in feet to get a rough chandelier diameter in inches: a 10-by-12-foot foyer suggests about 22 inches. Both figures are Kichler planning guidelines, not installation guarantees. The final check is the complete installed drop, including the body, suspension and canopy.
Calculate the drop before picking a shape
An eight-foot ceiling is 96 inches above the floor. Leaving seven feet, or 84 inches, to walk under a pendant gives just 12 inches for everything hanging below the ceiling. A ten-foot ceiling gives 36 inches. These are planning budgets, not a promise that every pendant can be shortened to fit. Check the product's minimum installed height and the ceiling box with your installer.
The Auvielight Elegant Floral Wreath Pendant Light lists a 21.7-inch-wide, 5.9-inch-high single-ring option and a default adjustable cable drop of 19.7 inches. The body height alone would fit inside a 12-inch budget, but the default cable would not. The product page does not state the shortest possible installed drop, so an eight-foot foyer fit cannot be concluded from the body dimension. Confirm the complete shortened assembly before choosing that ceiling height.
Use diameter as a visual check
Kichler's length-plus-width method gives a quick first estimate for a chandelier diameter. In the 10-by-12-foot example, 10 + 12 = 22, so a roughly 22-inch-wide fixture is a place to start. The Floral Wreath's 21.7-inch option sits close to that number; the same listing also includes wider single-ring and two-ring configurations. A broad floral outline will read differently from a compact cylinder of the same nominal diameter, so tape the full circle on the floor and view it from the entry door.
Do not let the formula override the architecture. A narrow door opening, staircase, low beam or prominent window can make a nominally correct diameter feel misplaced. In a two-story foyer, Kichler notes that some designers center the fixture in an upper window so it reads from outside. In a single-story foyer, the walk-under clearance and the doorway view are usually the more useful starting checks.
Check what the listing actually specifies
The Floral Wreath product page lists an integrated LED strip, hardwired ceiling mounting and dry indoor use. It does not provide a minimum shortened drop in the published details. Send the chosen variant, ceiling height and target clearance to Auvielight before the junction box is finalized. An installer can also check whether the box and ceiling support suit the selected fixture.
