Measure & specify

Room, suspension, weight and rated input.

Item, packing list and supplied components.

Hand over & keep

Give the installer the complete instructions.

Use the checklist below to collect the details in one place.

01

Measure the room and the fixture

  • Record floor-to-ceiling height and the dimensions of the furniture beneath the proposed light.
  • Compare the fixture's width, depth and overall height with the space available.
  • For a pendant or chandelier, confirm the minimum and maximum drop for the selected model. Ask whether the stated overall height includes the suspension.
  • Check doors, walking routes, sightlines and access for future cleaning or maintenance.

Use our Lighting Size Guide to explore visual proportion. A sizing suggestion is a starting point for design; your installer must review the final placement for your site.

02

Confirm mounting and electrical requirements

Share the product instructions, fixture weight and mounting information with an appropriately qualified installer. They should assess the supporting structure, fixing method, supply and location. For sloped ceilings or unusual mounting surfaces, ask about the exact product's suitability before ordering.

For bathrooms, outdoor areas or other demanding conditions, confirm the product's stated suitability and have the proposed location assessed. A decorative style or product photograph does not establish an environmental rating.

03

Check the light source and controls

Confirm the rated voltage, frequency, bulb or integrated LED system, and any dimming requirements. Keep the written specification for the variant you chose. Our Voltage & Plug Guide and Bulb & Dimming Guide explain what to ask.

04

Inspect delivery before installation

Keep the carton, shipping label and protective packing while checking the item and supplied components. If anything is damaged, missing or different from the order, photograph it and contact support before installation or repair. Use the shipment report page for the information needed for review.

05

Give your installer a complete handover

  • Product link, variant and order reference.
  • Instructions and confirmed electrical specification.
  • Room measurements and intended position.
  • Suspension limits, fixture weight and mounting details.
  • Bulb or driver information and any proposed controls.

Arrange installation after the product arrives and the necessary checks are complete. Keep the instructions and order details for future care or parts enquiries.
